The National Review has published a story by Lee Habeeb about the portrayal of legendary singer Johnny Cash. Though Cash has long bought of addiction to alcohol and drugs, he also kept a connection with his Christian faith. That connection finds its way into his song lyrics and later more overtly into his study of the Bible and creation of explicitly religious works in music, film and print.
Yet, in the award winning film Walk the Line, the faith dimension is nearly stripped away. This stripping away of faith stories in much of media, leaves the impression that faith is disappearing over all. It not gone, it is is merely not reported.
